Purpose of the Program

  • The program is designed to prepare bachelor degree holders in theology, pastoral ministry and related discipline for the counselling ministry.

  • It ensures a theological and counseling foundation is fused into biblical principles, also with psychological theory, counseling skills and techniques for sound take of the practical counseling ministry.

  • To guide counsel in the local church, missions, non governmental organisations, denominational agencies, and ministry-based organizations.

Learning Objectives

Demonstrate competence in Christian psychological principles, counseling skills, and techniques to use in a counseling ministry.
Demonstrate competence and skill in managing conflict.
Demonstrate the ability to identify best practices for individual and corporate spiritual growth and formation.
Demonstrate competence to understand and evaluate secular and Christian psychology theories from a theological perspective.
Demonstrate knowledge of advanced skills in Christian counselling integrating faith into the therapy process to promote improved mental health from a biblically-informed perspective.
Demonstrate skill and competence to provide support for people suffering emotionally and dysfunctionaly
Demonstrate a integrative counseling approach, fusing sound counseling techniques with Biblical and theological understanding of the ministry of counseling.
Demonstrate ability to carry out research and publish research findings which will be of value in the field of Christian counselling
Submit a dissertation/thesis (depending on the terminology in your country).

Admissions Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in in theology, pastoral theology, pastoral studies or related discipline, with a second class upper division, obtained from a university or institution accredited by the applicant country’s ministry of education and all necessary regulatory authorities. Candidates with less certification can also apply and will be accessed on merit.
